OpenAI and ServiceNow are expanding their partnership: ServiceNow workflows come to ChatGPT, and ServiceNow products get OpenAI models, agents and Codex.

What was announced?

OpenAI announced on Wednesday that it is expanding the partnership with ServiceNow it started in January (OpenAI). It works in two directions: ServiceNow workflows come to ChatGPT and Codex, and ServiceNow products get more OpenAI models and agents.

ServiceNow inside ChatGPT

A new integration lets teams work with ServiceNow data from ChatGPT. OpenAI's example: an IT team member finds similar incidents, assesses the risk of a change and updates a ServiceNow record without leaving ChatGPT. Customers connect their own ServiceNow instance and choose which capabilities to expose. ServiceNow's Action Fabric enforces existing business rules and permissions.

ServiceNow is also previewing interactive experiences inside ChatGPT. An on-call engineer, for example, can review linked alerts, recent changes and affected services in one place, then assign the right team.

OpenAI inside ServiceNow products

  • Development: Codex is coming to ServiceNow's AI Workflow Factory, and OpenAI models will power Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer.
  • Cybersecurity: a joint solution combines OpenAI's cyber capabilities with ServiceNow asset and identity context to investigate and prioritize vulnerabilities.
  • Voice: an OpenAI-powered voice experience in the Super Intelligence Control Tower lets people describe an AI use case aloud.

ServiceNow also plans to give all employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex, not just engineering.

When is it available?

The ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in the OpenAI marketplace today, with enhanced capabilities expected by the end of 2026. Voice is expected in Q1 2027, the security solution enters early access in January 2027 (general availability planned for Q2 2027), and Codex in AI Workflow Factory is expected during 2027.

Why it matters

After yesterday's Oracle announcement, this is the second major enterprise platform letting ChatGPT and Codex reach company data inside its existing permission model. ServiceNow teams can try the MCP plugin now, but most of the rest is a 2027 promise.
