What happened

New York-based Pathos AI announced on October 23 that it closed a $237 million Series E at a post-money valuation of about $3 billion (Pathos AI). Bristol Myers Squibb led the round alongside existing investors. Pathos doesn't sell tools to pharma; it builds its own clinical pipeline, now four clinical-stage assets, mostly in oncology.

What Foundry is

Per the announcement, its Foundry platform uses thousands of specialized AI agents to aggregate and update everything known about a drug program: clinical data, genomics, specimen data and the competitive landscape. From that it suggests the program's next decision, such as a narrower patient population or a trial pivot. A key use of the money is starting a registrational study for JSKN016, a TROP2/HER3 bispecific antibody-drug conjugate.

The roles of BMS and Tempus

  • BMS gets non-exclusive access to Foundry across its portfolio and three-year exclusive rights in neuroscience.
  • Tempus AI will build a de-identified, longitudinal dataset from hundreds of thousands of neurology patients, which Pathos licenses for five years for $55 million (

  • The first focus is Alzheimer's disease and other neurological conditions.

Why it matters

A big pharma company is not just licensing a platform here but leading the funding round. That signals pharma takes agentic AI seriously at the level of clinical decisions, not only molecule design. Whether Foundry actually improves success rates will show in clinical results over the coming years, not in today's valuation.
