What changed?

On October 21 at GTC Berlin, NVIDIA announced two developer tools for engineering and manufacturing: general availability of cuDSS and the FOX blueprint.

cuDSS: sparse systems on GPUs

cuDSS is a CUDA-X library that moves the solving of large sparse linear systems onto GPUs (NVIDIA blog). This step repeats throughout structural, fluid, electromagnetic and semiconductor simulations and often limits how many designs a team can test. It offers C, C++, Python and Fortran interfaces and scales from workstations to clusters.

Partner-reported results:

  • Dassault Systèmes: 8 to 10x speedups in Abaqus and CST electromagnetic solvers.
  • Applied Materials: up to 10x faster sparse solves in its Ginestra platform versus CPU-only.
  • COMSOL: ZEISS SMT ran an EUV lithography plasma simulation 4x faster.
  • Cadence, Siemens and Synopsys have also built it into their simulators.

FOX: factory manager agents

The Factory Operations Blueprint (FOX) is in early access on GitHub (NVIDIA blog). It helps developers build always-on factory manager agents plus specialist agents for visual inspection, root cause analysis, reporting and fleet management. Agents can connect to Cosmos and Nemotron models and to CAD, PLM and OT systems. Siemens is integrating it into Intelligence Center X, with estimated cost savings of 20%.

Why it matters

Simulation software vendors now get a supported GPU solver instead of writing their own. End users mostly see familiar tools getting faster. The speedups are partner measurements, and real gains vary by model.
