What's new?
Ideogram launched Vector 1.0 on October 22 (RuntimeWire). It is the company's first model that outputs vector graphics instead of pixels. According to the product page (Ideogram), it targets logos, print designs, illustrations, stickers and labels.
Two workflows
- Text to vector: generates an SVG from a prompt, with optional image references.
- Image to vector: converts an existing image to SVG without a prompt.
- Output is editable: recolor to match your brand, and select, resize and rotate individual shapes.
- SVGs stay sharp at every size, from a small label to a large poster.
API and pricing
The model has two endpoints: POST /v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1 and POST /v2/svg/vectorize/ideogram-vector-1. Prices per SVG, per the product page:
- Text to vector, prompt only: $0.13 (low), $0.16 (medium), $0.20 (high).
- Text to vector with references: same for low and medium, $0.32 for high.
- Image to vector: $0.10 per image.
Why it matters
Generative image models have mostly produced raster images that designers had to vectorize by hand for logos or print. If Vector 1.0 delivers clean, editable SVGs, that step drops out of the workflow. Ideogram is already known for accurate text and typography, which matters most for logos. Test it on a few of your own logos or icons and inspect the path structure before using it in production.
