What is new in Siri?

Apple released its 27.2 system updates on Monday (Engadget). On supported iPhones, Siri AI can now recall past conversations with the user. It can also draw on more granular sources, such as photos sent in Messages, attendees on Calendar invites and voicemails.

An Excluded Apps setting blocks Siri, Search and suggestions from specific apps. Users can now select and copy parts of Siri's answers. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are the new languages.

The Siri AI features work on all iPhone 16 models and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. watchOS 27.2 gets the same Siri lineup, while macOS 27.2 adds conversation recall and Suggestions in Messages.

Other AI features

All iPhones get Suggestions in Messages, which offers contextual actions based on texts. Photos and Image Playground now support Google's SynthID watermark, which identifies images created or modified with generative AI (Engadget).

Why it matters

SynthID support stands out because Apple is adopting a rival's watermarking standard. If the big platforms read each other's watermarks, detecting generated images could work at scale. The expanded Siri data sources also show Apple betting on personal context rather than raw model performance.
